How they compare

The same jobs, done two ways.

Getting things in

Soon

You write or say a normal sentence: "call mom tomorrow at 6, and the rent's due Friday". Soon reads the dates, people and places as you type, shows them as pills, and splits the sentence into two tasks. You can also paste text, pick a photo, share a link or drop in a text file, and Soon suggests the tasks it finds.

Todoist

Todoist's Quick Add opens with Q and reads a compact syntax: "Pay rent fri p1 @home" gets a date, a priority and a label, "+Ola" assigns it and "{march 30}" sets a deadline. It's fast once you learn it. On paid plans Todoist can also pull tasks from text, images and documents.

Voice

Soon

Tap the mic or use the Talk control and say several things in a row. Soon transcribes with Apple's speech recognition, then splits the text into tasks, with dates and places filled in. Change your mind halfway with "actually". You can close the sheet and it finishes on its own. English and Polish, even mixed.

Todoist

Ramble does the same job: you talk and it turns what you said into tasks. Todoist calls it experimental, supports 40+ languages and runs it on the web, desktop, iPhone, Android and Wear OS. The free plan gets 10 sessions a month, paid plans are unlimited. Siri works on iPhone but not on the Mac or Apple Watch.

When things show up

Soon

Soon sorts tasks into Now, Soon and Someday for you. Now holds what's due today, plus sections for places, for people and for small things you'll do when you're free. On iPhone a place reminder fires when you arrive or leave, and a person task comes up 15 minutes before a calendar event with them.

Todoist

Todoist gives you Today and Upcoming views, projects, sections, labels and filters you build yourself. Location reminders exist on Pro and Business, and fire on arrival or departure on phones and tablets. There's no trigger for meeting a person. You decide where things go, which suits people who like to plan.

Working with others

Soon

You can share one context, like Home, with an invite link. Members see its tasks and who added them, and you can assign tasks to each other. Everything outside that context stays private. There are no comments, no roles beyond owner and member, and no team billing.

Todoist

This is where Todoist is far ahead. Every plan has shared projects with comments and assignees, up to 5 people per personal project. Business adds team workspaces with admins, members and guests, team folders, shared templates and central billing.

Calendar

Soon

Soon reads the calendars on your iPhone or Mac, the ones Apple's Calendar app shows, and keeps event details on your device. It shows events next to your tasks, finds free gaps for "when you're free" tasks and uses meetings for person reminders. It doesn't write tasks into your calendar.

Todoist

Todoist connects to Google Calendar or Outlook on every plan: events appear in Today and Upcoming, and tasks with a time block sync to a separate Todoist calendar. Pro adds a calendar layout. Apple Calendar can subscribe to a read-only Todoist feed.

Platforms and integrations

Soon

Soon is iPhone and Mac only, on iOS 26 and macOS 26 or later. It has Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Control Center controls, Shortcuts and Siri, a share extension on iPhone, and a Mac app with Quick Capture on Control-Space and a Command-K palette. API keys let an AI assistant read and change your tasks.

Todoist

Todoist runs almost everywhere: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Wear OS, Mac, Windows, Linux, the web, plus browser extensions and email add-ons. It lists 90+ integrations, has a public API with webhooks and SDKs, and an MCP server that works with Claude and ChatGPT.

Where Todoist is stronger

Which one to pick

Soon fits if

  • You use an iPhone and a Mac and nothing else.
  • You'd rather say a sentence than learn a syntax.
  • You want tasks to come up by place and by who you're about to see, without building filters.
  • You add things and then forget to look, and want the list trimmed for you.

Todoist fits if

  • You need Android, Windows, the web or an iPad.
  • You plan projects with a team and need comments, roles and admin.
  • You rely on integrations or the API.
  • You need it working today, not in early access.

Where Soon is today

Soon is in early access. The iPhone app goes out by invite and isn't on the App Store yet. The Mac app isn't released yet. Both need iOS 26 or macOS 26 or later.

It's free to start, with unlimited tasks and 50 AI actions. A paid Soon Pro plan is planned, with no price set. Which features end up in Pro may change before launch.

New in the early access build: an Inbox, where everything you add lands first so you can check what Soon read before it goes on your list.
